Gun safety group says voters can trust Schneider “to consistently stand up to the corporate gun lobby”

NORTHBROOK, IL— Today, Democrat Brad Schneider (IL-10) announced the endorsement of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence in his campaign for Congress.

"In Brad Schneider, Illinois's 10th congressional district voters have found the only candidate they can completely and utterly trust to consistently stand up to the corporate gun lobby and disarm the hate that kills thousands of Americans every year,” said Brady Campaign to Reduce Gun Violence President Dan Gross. “We know he'll walk the walk, he's done it his entire career. Brad Schneider has worked alongside the Brady Campaign to support common sense gun policies again and again, whether its opposing federally mandated concealed carry reciprocity or supporting repeal of special protections Congress has provided to the gun industry from civil liability for negligence. While his opponent opposes expanding Brady background checks on all gun sales – Brad supports the more than ninety percent of Americans who support this live saving measure. For those in Illinois's 10th congressional district who have had #ENOUGH of gun violence and want the better, safer state and nation we all deserve, there simply is no one better suited for the job ahead.”

“Fighting to reduce gun violence is a personal issue for me – I was named in memory of my great-uncle who was murdered by a gunman – and I am honored to accept the endorsement of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence,” said Schneider. “It is shameful that the current Congress has responded to the epidemic of gun violence in our communities with inaction and indifference. If elected, I will only support a Speaker of the House who pledges to bring forward commonsense legislation to reduce gun violence for a vote in the next Congress.”
