Schneider for Congress Campaign Supports Community Covid-19 Response with more than $25,000 in Donations

Campaign volunteers have also made more than 1,000 calls to elderly neighbors to check in during the crisis

NORTHBROOK, IL – Today, the Schneider for Congress campaign announced making more than $25,000 in donations over the past several weeks to more than two dozen local organizations helping Tenth District communities during the Covid-19 pandemic. A full list of recipient organizations is included at the end of this release. 

In addition, in a gesture to say “thank you” to the heroic health care workers on the front lines of the crisis and at the same time support our local small businesses, this week the Schneider for Congress campaign began donating meals to local hospitals. The first donation of $500 was for pizzas to cover meal breaks for the staff at Vista Medical Center, delivered by Quonset Pizza and Jimano's Pizza of Waukegan. The campaign is scheduling similar lunch donations at the other medical centers in the Tenth Congressional District in the coming days.

In addition to financial support, the campaign is participating in a “Good Neighbors” program with volunteer phone bankers making calls checking in on elderly residents who are social distancing during the crisis. To date, Schneider for Congress volunteers have made more than 1,000 calls. 

“The unprecedented coronavirus pandemic is challenging our communities like never before, but I am daily inspired by how neighbors are stepping up to help one another,” said Brad Schneider. “I am grateful our campaign is able to contribute to these important efforts with volunteer action and financial support. Grassroots volunteers have always been the heart of our campaign, and I so appreciate their continued dedication making check-in calls to vulnerable members of our community.”
